I remember getting an email from my good friend discussing a project management software Basecamp who decided to do away with discussing politics and other management elements like 360 reviews and committees that are part of an “anti-racist” organizational philosophy because they decided that they want to just focus on building software and being great at what they do.

Her recommendation was that if you run an “anti-racist”company that you need to stop using this software. I told her I thought that was crazy. She and I disagree on some things but for the most part we are deeply in alignment on the spirit and principles of what running inclusive spaces looks like.

It is true companies get political, but I’m not interested in a company’s politics. Companies are now playing WOKE as a brand to avoid PR crisis management and cancellations as opposed to doing things because they are true. Believe me these companies don’t care about anything they only care about the flavor du jour and your dollars.

I recently watched the mass exodus from Disney because of their publicly coming out against the “don’t Say Gay” bill. Can someone explain to me why Disney would be against a bill that outlaws teaching children about sex and sexuality in school before the third grade? Can someone explain to me why we are even discussing this and why there need to be laws about this? But am I canceling Disney +? Hell no. Am I going to not take my kid to Disney? Of course not.

I don’t purchase from Disney because of their political views. I purchase the entertainment and experiences they offer.

These mobs of people on both sides of the political spectrum are destroying our country. They are destroying the quality of the products and services we buy and receive because companies are forced to dedicate resources to things that have nothing to do with what they offer.

I worked in recruiting and HR tech for over 15 years and companies are being eaten alive by a once well intentioned movement of diversity and inclusivity.

It has gone from making a conscious effort to have a diverse organization to the same kind of Special Status Olympics I mentioned in my post yesterday about Body Positivity.

We have gone INSANE.

Don’t mistake what I’m saying. Corporations have a lot of work to do. It would be my dream to bring Magic Led Business™️ and the principles of Feminine Spirituality to corporations. There is a lot we can do to create a more aligned world.

But this mob based dominance, cancellation and frankly violence isn’t it. It’s more of the same. As a business owner I have it written in all my client contracts that disagreeing with my personal and political views is not a valid reason for not honoring your contract and it frankly has nothing to do with whether someone receives what they came for. Now people obviously have the right to not sign the contract in the first place, but I’m explicit about this.

Why can the mob control companies? Because they are solely directed by profits. They will move wherever they think the tide is turning. I promise they aren’t “woke” because they care. They are woke because they have put a dollar value on it and decided it was the most profitable or that not being so would cost too much in crisis management.

Personally I will not live my life or run my business in accordance with this kind of external orientation and if you do, ask yourself why you do.
