First, let me just say, if we as humans had a real choice about our awakening that would look solely as how we chose to actively participate or resist it.
Awakening is inevitable even if it’s the last seconds of your time here.
Our souls choose the journey.
Our souls choose our teachers, our lessons, the Earth School PhD programs we will enroll in.
But let’s talk about the human experience of awakening.
It sucks.
There. I said it.
It fucking totally sucks.
Humans like certainty.
They like safety.
They like to belong.
They want peace and to collapse.
They want meaningless entertainment.
They want what they want.
The awakening process in my experience is one of enormous loss for the human.
One thing after another is stripped or disappears or falls away.
Can’t I just back to clubbing and forget my life?
Yeah, no. You cannot reclaim ignorance where you can now see.
The path is also lonely.
It’s why spiritual communities have always existed.
Most human awakening takes place with reflective mirrors in the way of teachers and fellow travelers.
Awakening without a proper reference point or guidance looks like mental illness. Think Kanye.
But the real trap for seekers, those actively dealing transformative experiences is the illusion that there is some oasis when you get there.
Or worse, that you will somehow be able to quit because you change the scenery.
That’s not how it works.
In my experience the path gets steeper, harder, and the puzzles (life projects or “problems”) get more intricate and difficult.
This human desire of “I want to be enlightened to be superior, or look cool or so I can escape these cycles” is just … WRONG.
It’s a complete and total fallacy.
The journey gets HARDER.
Not easier.
HARDER.
More challenging.
Greater initiations .
More growth.
Because enlightenment is about expansion.
Not the collapse at the top of the mountain.
The honeymoon phase of things going smoothly and transforming what we were will move into a season of darkness for more initiations and trainings.
Oh did you think you were just going to get to enjoy all that and rest?
That’s funny.
Not if you came here for a lifetime of expansion and service.
There are of course seasons in the sun.
And they are glorious.
Richer than I could ever imagine.
And then the work begins again asking us for refinement.
The ultimate path of the experience we sign up for is one of DIS-INTEGRATION
It’s the return to oneness
Integrating wounded or fractured parts
Loving things into wholeness
The things that create more fracture create a longer and harder journey
And then our human minds get to keep living out the particular illusion it chooses to reinforce the wounded stories
The path pursues you whether you like it or not
It’s your choice whether you want to relate to it with purpose and study or whether you want to pretend like you can outrun a tsunami.
Personally it’s the only thing in my life.
It is literally the central focus because pretending that there is anything else is simply too painful.
